International Real Estate Partners announces CEO succession

International Real Estate Partners (IREP), the Dubai-headquartered global real estate and facilities management operating partner, has announced a planned leadership succession that sees Kamran Abbas appointed Chief Executive Officer. Outgoing CEO Kenneth McCrae will move into the role of Executive Chairman.

The transition follows what the firm described as a deliberate succession process, designed to provide leadership continuity while supporting IREP’s continued growth across its international platform, currently spanning the UAE, wider Middle East, India, the United Kingdom, Europe, and North America.

A CFO-to-CEO transition with strategic intent

Abbas joins the CEO role from the position of Chief Financial Officer, a trajectory that signals a particular strategic direction for the firm. CFO-to-CEO transitions typically indicate boards prioritising financial discipline, operational execution, and scalable growth over a new strategic reset. For IREP, this reading is consistent with its public positioning, the firm has been building out a multi-market operating platform across integrated facilities management, HSE, property management, advisory, and delivery services, with execution discipline as a recurring theme.

During his tenure as CFO, Abbas was credited with strengthening IREP’s financial position, improving operational execution, and supporting the firm’s expansion across its international markets. In his new role, he will lead the firm’s overall strategic direction, executive management, client engagement, and continued expansion.

McCrae will remain closely involved in the business as Executive Chairman, with a particular focus on long-term strategic vision, governance, and key client relationships. The dual structure, incoming CEO supported by an Executive Chairman with deep institutional knowledge, is a model commonly used in FM and real estate services firms during phases of accelerated growth or international platform-building.

Operational reinforcement at the top

The CEO transition follows the earlier appointment of Peter Doran as Group Chief Operating Officer, a role focused on strengthening IREP’s operating model, regional delivery, and service consistency across its international markets. The succession is effective immediately, with Abbas, McCrae, and Doran working as an aligned executive team across IREP’s international markets.
