Anglo Teck Unveils Executive Leadership Team Ahead of Merger Completion

Teck Resources and Anglo American have announced the future Executive Leadership Team (ELT) of Anglo Teck plc, the combined company that will be created through the merger announced in September 2025. The appointments will take effect upon completion of the merger, which remains subject to final regulatory approval and is expected to close within the previously announced timeline of between September 2026 and March 2027. 

Leadership Team Confirmed
The companies said the future Executive Leadership Team brings together a highly experienced and complementary group of leaders from both organisations. According to the release, the team combines deep operational and financial expertise, global market insight, safety leadership, values-based decision-making and project delivery to create enduring shareholder and stakeholder value. 

The future Executive Leadership Team will be led by Duncan Wanblad as Chief Executive Officer, with Jonathan Price serving as Deputy CEO and Chief Strategy Officer. Other appointments include John Heasley as Chief Financial Officer, Ruben Fernandes as Chief Operating Officer, Ian Anderson as Chief People Officer, Lyndon Arnall as Chief Legal & Sustainability Officer, Alison Atkinson as Chief Technical Officer and CEO of Crop Nutrients, Karla Mills as Chief Projects Officer, and Matt Walker as CEO, Marketing. Nolitha Fakude will continue in her current role as Chair of Anglo Teck’s management board in South Africa, reporting to Duncan Wanblad. 

The companies also confirmed a regional leadership team responsible for the mining and production businesses across Canada and the United States, Peru, Brazil, Chile and South Africa, with the leaders reporting to Chief Operating Officer Ruben Fernandes. 

A Milestone for the Combined Company
Jonathan Price, President and CEO of Teck and Deputy CEO-designate of Anglo Teck, said, “Today represents a significant next step in the creation of Anglo Teck, which we are setting up to be a top-tier global copper producer with world-class operations and exceptional growth opportunities. This executive leadership team will provide strong continuity for the combined business and positions us to unlock the full potential of Anglo Teck as a global leader in the responsible production of many of the metals and minerals that the world is counting on.” 

Duncan Wanblad, CEO of Anglo American and CEO-designate of Anglo Teck, added, “Announcing Anglo Teck’s future Executive Leadership Team marks another major milestone as we progress towards combining these two great companies. Board Leadership and Global Footprint
The companies also reaffirmed that Sheila Murray, currently Chair of Teck, will serve as Chair of the Board of Anglo Teck. Duncan Wanblad, Jonathan Price and John Heasley will serve as executive directors, while Richard Price, currently Chief Legal & Corporate Affairs Officer of Anglo American, will join the Board as a non-executive director. The full composition of the Board will be confirmed before completion of the merger. 

Anglo Teck will establish its global headquarters in Vancouver, Canada, where the CEO, Deputy CEO, CFO and a significant majority of the senior management team will be based. The combined company will also maintain corporate offices in London and Johannesburg to support its international operations. According to the companies, Anglo Teck will be one of the world’s largest copper producers while maintaining a portfolio that includes premium iron ore, zinc and crop nutrients.
