Langham Hospitality Group Appoints Nils-Arne Schroeder as Chief Operating Officer

Hong Kong

Langham Hospitality Group (LHG) has appointed Nils-Arne Schroeder as its Chief Operating Officer (COO), strengthening its executive leadership team as the company accelerates the global expansion of its hotel and branded residences portfolio.

Based at LHG’s headquarters in Hong Kong, Schroeder will oversee operations across the group’s portfolio of more than 30 hotels and residences while supporting the opening and integration of over 20 properties currently under development.

LEADERSHIP TO SUPPORT GLOBAL EXPANSION

As COO, Schroeder will play a key role in guiding the company’s growth strategy across established and emerging markets. LHG’s development pipeline includes its first hotel in Thailand, new openings in China later this year, followed by projects in Italy and Malaysia in 2027 and Saudi Arabia in 2028.

Commenting on the appointment, Bob van den Oord, Chief Executive Officer of Langham Hospitality Group, said that Schroeder’s international experience would strengthen the company’s expansion efforts. He added, “As we expand to more destinations, Nils’ breadth of experience across regions, cultures and hotel segments will be a major asset. He has a proven ability to respond to market needs without diluting brand identity, and to turn that balance into sustained performance.”

MORE THAN THREE DECADES OF GLOBAL HOSPITALITY EXPERIENCE

Schroeder joins Langham Hospitality Group with more than 30 years of hospitality leadership experience spanning Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Europe and Africa.

Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President, Operations – Europe and Africa for Raffles and Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, based in Dubai. Prior to that, he held the role of Senior Vice President, Operations – Asia, Middle East and Africa for Fairmont Hotels & Resorts.

Earlier in his career, Schroeder spent more than two decades with Hilton, where he held a range of hotel, regional and brand leadership positions across Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific. His final role with the company was Vice President – Luxury and Lifestyle, Asia Pacific, while concurrently serving as Global Brand Head for Conrad Hotels & Resorts.

FOCUS ON OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE AND GROWTH

In his new role, Schroeder will report directly to CEO Bob van den Oord and oversee Group Operations as well as Quality & Sustainability across Langham Hospitality Group. His responsibilities include supporting operational excellence, enhancing guest experiences and facilitating the successful expansion of the company’s growing global portfolio.

Commenting on his appointment, Schroeder said, “I am honoured to join Langham Hospitality Group at such an exciting point in its growth journey. The company has built a distinctive portfolio of brands with a reputation for exceptional hospitality and meaningful guest experiences. With an exciting pipeline of new hotels and residences, there is a tremendous opportunity to build on that foundation while continuing to deliver operational excellence across every property.”
