Mahindra Group has appointed Shveta Arya as its Group Chief Strategy Officer, bringing the former Cummins India Managing Director into a key leadership role as the conglomerate sharpens its strategic priorities across businesses.

Arya brings more than two decades of industry and management consulting experience spanning automotive, travel, financial services and telecom. Her move to Mahindra also marks a return to strategy-focused leadership after a career that has combined corporate strategy with operational and business management responsibilities.

From Strategy to Business Leadership

Arya joined Cummins India in May 2016 as Head of Strategy before taking charge of its Distribution business. She later became leader of the Power Systems business in September 2022 and was appointed Managing Director of Cummins India in September 2024.

During her time at the company, she was responsible for driving growth in India, engaging with government and community stakeholders, developing talent and strengthening organisational culture. Her earlier career included leading Strategy and Mergers & Acquisitions at Thomas Cook India, alongside roles at Kearney and Infosys.

A Strategic Addition to Mahindra Leadership

Arya’s appointment gives Mahindra an executive with experience spanning strategy formulation and large-scale business execution. Her background across consulting, M&A, industrial operations and emerging technologies positions her to bring a broad perspective to the Group’s strategic agenda.

The move comes as Mahindra continues to navigate opportunities across its diverse portfolio, making the ability to connect long-term strategy with execution increasingly important. For Arya, the appointment represents a new chapter in a career shaped by transformation, growth and strategic leadership.
