As the Founder and CEO of Paxykop Technologies Singapore and LifeOnPlus Technologies, he has pioneered innovations in healthcare, telecommunications, and consumer electronics. In this conversation, Torgal shares his journey from telecommunications to healthcare innovation, explaining how a personal health challenge in 2011 led to the creation of LifeOnPlus and its Global Digital Health Card. He also discusses his leadership philosophy and vision for borderless healthcare.

 

  • What initially drew you to this industry, and when did you realize it was your passion?

Healthcare should be seamless, accessible, and borderless, but too often, it’s fragmented and challenging to navigate. My journey into this industry began with a personal experience highlighting this gap.

In 2011, during an extended stay in South Korea, I found myself without access to my medical records or prescriptions. What should have been a straightforward process became a frustrating ordeal, with delays in care due to missing health information and communication barriers. This experience wasn’t just a personal inconvenience—it reflected a widespread issue faced by travelers, expats, and even domestic patients dealing with disconnected healthcare systems. It was clear that a solution was needed, and that realization led to the creation of LifeOnPlus.

LifeOnPlus is a technology-driven healthcare platform designed to make medical records instantly accessible, securely stored, and globally retrievable. At the heart of this innovation is the Global Digital Health Card, available via a mobile app on both Google Play and the Apple App Store. This smart health card empowers users with:

  1. Emergency Readiness – Instant access to local emergency services, hospitals, and healthcare providers.
  2. Multilingual Support – Automatic translation of medical records for seamless communication with doctors worldwide.

  • What were the key turning points or milestones as you progressed in your career?

Looking back on my career, a series of defining moments shaped my journey—from microprocessor-based innovations to revolutionizing digital healthcare.

I started in the early 1990s, developing MYCOMBI, a pioneering tool to help students learn coding while simultaneously working on engineering student projects and enterprise solutions in Belgaum. This foundation in technology led me to MODI GBC LIMITED in Bangalore, where I quickly rose to become the first Senior Commercial Engineer, earning a cash award from Mrs. Veena Modi.

By the late 1990s, I had transitioned into the telecommunications industry, working with Global Teleservices Limited on wireless products and later leading testing divisions at Motorola and Qualcomm. Over the next decade, I took on key leadership roles, including Regional Head for South India at Haier Telecom, overseeing GSM and CDMA operations.

Despite my success in telecom, a pivotal moment came in 2011 during a work trip to South Korea. I fell ill in a foreign country and faced multiple barriers—no access to my medical history, no physical records, and a language gap that made communication nearly impossible. That experience was a turning point. It made me realize how critical seamless digital healthcare access was—especially in an increasingly globalized world.

Rather than returning to India, I made a deliberate stop in Singapore, determined to find a solution. That decision set me on the path to founding IMaxGSM and, eventually, LifeOnPlus, a digital health ecosystem designed to bridge healthcare gaps worldwide.

Some of the key milestones along the way include:

  1. Developing the Global Digital Health Card – a universal solution for securely storing and accessing medical records worldwide.
  2. Expanding LifeOnPlus beyond digital health records to integrate AI-powered diagnostics, preventive healthcare insights, and remote patient monitoring.
  3. Building strategic partnerships with healthcare providers, wellness experts, and digital health pioneers to establish a comprehensive ecosystem.
  4. Gaining industry recognition, LifeOnPlus emerged as a transformative force in healthcare accessibility.
  5. Establishing a global presence with operations in India and Singapore and expanding into Dubai, Germany, Malaysia, and the US.

The journey has been one of continuous innovation, resilience, and strategic collaborations. Tapping into key investors and aligning technology partners remains an ongoing process, ensuring that LifeOnPlus stays at the forefront of the healthcare revolution. Each milestone has reinforced my belief that technology, when purpose-driven, has the power to reshape global healthcare and improve lives.

 

  • How has your leadership style evolved over the years? 

Leadership, for me, has always been about innovation, adaptability, and empowerment. Over time, my focus has shifted from execution to impact. Early in my career, I was deeply involved in the technical side. However, as LifeOnPlus grew, I transitioned to a more collaborative leadership approach that fostered creativity, ownership, and continuous learning within the team. Building a diverse team with varied experiences has been essential in expanding our market presence. Instead of directing, I empower teams to take ownership, cultivate innovation, and solve problems creatively. I focus on setting a clear vision and aligning teams toward a common goal while also investing in the development of future leaders. Ultimately, I lead with purpose, ensuring that every team member understands the larger impact of our work in improving people’s lives.

 

  • What are your plans for LifeOnPlus and the healthcare industry?

Looking ahead, my vision for LifeOnPlus is to build a comprehensive healthcare ecosystem that is not only accessible and affordable but also tailored to the diverse needs of people across the globe. Our mission is to dismantle the barriers that prevent many from accessing quality healthcare. As part of this, our plans are centered on:

Global Expansion with Localized Solutions: As we scale, we are committed to adapting LifeOnPlus to fit the unique healthcare needs of different regions and cultures. This ensures that our solutions are both relevant and accessible, making quality care available to everyone, no matter where they are.

My advice for emerging leaders in healthcare is to stay true to your purpose—focus on solving real problems, not just chasing trends. Embrace the digital transformation reshaping the industry by understanding the role of AI, data analytics, and digital health solutions. Cultivate resilience to navigate the complexity and regulations of healthcare, and build strong networks with experts and innovators to amplify your impact. Most importantly, always prioritize people, whether it’s your team or users, as creating value for them drives long-term success.
