Jeff Epstein, former Oracle CFO and Zoom board director News Updates

Zoom Adds Former Oracle CFO Jeff Epstein to Board

Zoom has appointed former Oracle CFO Jeff Epstein to its Board of Directors, bringing extensive financial, B2B software and technology leadership experience as longtime director Jonathan Chadwick prepares to retire after nearly a decade.

Zoom is adding seasoned financial and technology leadership to its board as the company continues to evolve its strategy around AI and modern workplace technology.

Jeff Epstein, former Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Oracle, has joined Zoom’s Board of Directors with immediate effect. The appointment was announced on September 2, alongside confirmation that longtime board member Jonathan Chadwick will retire on November 19, 2026, after nearly ten years of service.

The transition brings an executive with experience spanning enterprise software, finance, venture investing and corporate governance into Zoom’s leadership structure.

Epstein currently serves as an Operating Partner at Bessemer Venture Partners, where he leads the firm’s CFO Council and works with portfolio company executives on financial and leadership practices. Before joining Bessemer, his executive career included serving as EVP and CFO of Oracle.

Zoom CEO and Board Chairman Eric Yuan highlighted Epstein’s financial and strategic experience, particularly across B2B software and vertical AI, as important strengths he brings to the board.

The reference to AI is particularly relevant as Zoom increasingly positions itself as an AI-first work platform, integrating artificial intelligence across meetings, phone, contact centre and other workplace tools. Its current investor positioning describes the company as an “AI-first work platform for human connection.”

Broad Boardroom Experience

Epstein arrives with considerable public-company board experience in addition to his operating background.

He currently sits on the boards of Autodesk, AvePoint and Twilio, alongside his new position at Zoom. His previous directorships include Okta, Couchbase, Poshmark and Shutterstock, according to Zoom’s announcement.

His broader career also includes CFO roles at DoubleClick, King World Productions and Nielsen’s Media Measurement and Information Group before his time at Oracle. He holds an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BA from Yale.

Zoom’s current corporate governance information also lists Epstein as a member of its Audit Committee, extending the relevance of his financial background to the board’s oversight responsibilities.

Jonathan Chadwick Concludes Nearly a Decade

The appointment comes alongside another significant board transition.

Jonathan Chadwick will retire from Zoom’s board effective November 19, concluding nearly ten years with the company. Yuan credited Chadwick’s guidance during important periods of Zoom’s growth and acknowledged his role in helping shape the business over that period.

Chadwick’s tenure spans a transformative period in Zoom’s history, during which the company developed from a growing communications platform into a globally recognised workplace technology business.

The leadership transition therefore combines continuity with additional expertise. Epstein brings experience in finance, enterprise technology, scaling businesses and board governance at a time when AI is becoming increasingly central to Zoom’s wider product direction.

For Zoom, the appointment is more than the addition of another director. It strengthens the board with an executive whose career has crossed several parts of the technology ecosystem, from running finance at a global software company to advising emerging businesses and overseeing established public technology companies.

As workplace technology continues to evolve around AI, that combination of financial discipline and technology experience gives Zoom another perspective at board level for its next stage of development.
